I've been shopping in New Orleans's Garden District for some party decorations. Shown below is Simon Hardeveld of "Antiques on Jackson", whose work is shown widely during Mardi Gras, and my personal design consultant Kelly Clark Temple (I bought her the passion wheel).
Consider yourself invited to ROSTFREI 2009 (Winter Carnival) on 23 January in Durham. This will be a weekend-long celebration in the Mardi Gras tradition, so come when you wish. This year's event coincides with the 40th birthday celebration of MrCheap, "Diamond Dave" Rollins.
live music! free beer! street parade! magic tricks! ice carving! feats of strength! fireworks! burlesque acts! smoked meats! Attire is "fancy dress" (black tie or costume). Children and dogs are welcome, but please note that this is a celebration of alternative lifestyles (i.e., the attendees will include polyamorists, cross-dressing Republicans, off duty lesbian police officers, and adult entertainers).
